Peel Regional Police are set to provide an update on a major retail theft investigation during a news conference at Square One Shopping Centre on Friday morning.

The briefing, scheduled for 11 a.m., will be led by officers from the 11 Division Break and Enter Auto and Retail Organized Crime Unit. Investigators are expected to outline the results of the operation and discuss ongoing efforts to tackle organized retail crime across the region.

According to police, the investigation has led to the recovery of a significant quantity of stolen property. However, officials have not yet disclosed the estimated value of the recovered items or whether any arrests have been made.

Police say the operation forms part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing organized retail theft through targeted, intelligence-led policing. Retail theft has become an increasing concern for businesses across the Greater Toronto Area, with organized crime groups often targeting high-value merchandise for resale.

More details, including the scope of the investigation, the value of the recovered property and any charges laid, are expected to be announced during Friday’s media briefing.

Peel Regional Police say they remain committed to working with retailers and community partners to disrupt organized theft networks and improve public safety.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available following the news conference.
