HAYES, London — A 24-year-old woman has died after a stabbing at a property in west London, while a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Metropolitan Police officers were called to Uxbridge Road in Hayes at about 7:55 a.m. on Sunday following reports of a stabbing. Officers arrived alongside the London Ambulance Service and found the young woman suffering from stab injuries. Despite emergency treatment, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, a man in his 20s, was found outside the property with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where police are awaiting an update on his condition.
Officers quickly located a 44-year-old man matching the suspect’s description nearby. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Police said he was also taken to hospital with injuries believed to have been sustained after jumping from a window.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, described the incident as a “shocking” attack.
“This is a shocking incident which has tragically resulted in one woman losing her life and another man in hospital with injuries,” Bhangoo said.
He added that specialist officers are supporting the victims’ families and that detectives are in the early stages of their inquiries. Police currently do not believe there is any wider threat to the public, but residents can expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released as officers work to notify her next of kin.
The Metropolitan Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact police by calling 101, quoting reference 2501/12JUL, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
