AUCKLAND, New Zealand — A store worker was injured after confronting three alleged robbers during an attempted aggravated robbery at a fruit and vegetable shop in South Auckland on Sunday evening.
Police said the incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. at a greengrocer on Roscommon Road in Clendon Park, where three offenders entered the business and attempted to steal the store’s cash till.
According to police, an altercation broke out between the offenders and a male employee. During the struggle, the suspects dropped the cash till and fled the scene without stealing any money.

“During the altercation, the offenders dropped the till and left empty handed,” a police spokesperson said.
The worker suffered moderate injuries during the confrontation.
Hato Hone St John dispatched one ambulance, one rapid response unit and one operations manager to the scene. The injured man was treated by paramedics before being transported to Middlemore Hospital in a moderate condition.
Police have not released descriptions of the three offenders, and no arrests have been announced.
Detectives are carrying out inquiries to identify those involved, including reviewing any available CCTV footage and speaking with potential witnesses. The investigation remains ongoing.
The attempted robbery is the latest in a series of violent commercial robberies investigated across Auckland in recent months, with police continuing to target offenders involved in aggravated robberies through dedicated investigations. Authorities have recently made several arrests in unrelated aggravated robbery cases across the region, underscoring their focus on tackling violent retail crime.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation to contact New Zealand Police via 105 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
No further information about the injured worker’s condition has been released. The investigation remains active.
