Man Seriously Injured in Glenfield Stabbing; 45-Year-Old Charged After Auckland Altercation
A man was hospitalized with serious injuries after an alleged stabbing during an altercation at a residential property in Auckland’s Glenfield on Sunday night.
Police were called to Valley View Road just before 8 p.m. following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a stab wound.
Waitematā Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Inspector Megan Goldie said initial inquiries indicated that people known to each other had been gathered at the address when an altercation broke out, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
The injured man was taken to Auckland City Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
A 45-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in the North Shore District Court on Monday.
Footage from the scene showed police officers examining the area along the footpath, taking photographs and placing evidence markers as part of the investigation.
Emergency responders from Hato Hone St John dispatched a rapid response vehicle, a road ambulance and an operations manager to the incident. The patient, who was initially reported to be in a serious condition, was transported to Auckland Hospital by approximately 8:15 p.m.
Police have not released the identities of those involved. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing remains ongoing.
