Victoria Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Essendon alleged to be a senior lieutenant in an organised crime syndicate believed to be behind hundreds of arson attacks, shootings and kidnappings across Melbourne.
The arrest was made as part of an ongoing investigation into a network accused of orchestrating a series of violent crimes linked to Melbourne’s escalating underworld conflict. Detectives allege the suspect played a significant leadership role in coordinating criminal activities for the syndicate.
Police said the investigation has uncovered links to numerous violent incidents across the city, including deliberate fires, firearm attacks and kidnappings carried out over recent months. Authorities also executed search warrants at multiple locations as part of the operation, seizing items expected to assist the investigation.
The accused is expected to face multiple serious charges and will appear before court at a later date.
Victoria Police said the investigation remains ongoing, with further arrests not being ruled out as detectives continue targeting members of the organised crime network.
