A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in downtown Toronto on Saturday morning, prompting a police investigation.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue shortly after 10:45 a.m. following reports of a person who had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics treated him at the scene before transporting him to hospital in serious condition.

Toronto Police have not released the victim’s age or identity, and his current condition has not been updated.

Investigators have also not provided any information about a suspect or confirmed whether any arrests have been made. The circumstances leading up to the stabbing remain under investigation.

Police are expected to review CCTV footage from nearby businesses and speak with witnesses as they work to determine what happened.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area around Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue around the time of the stabbing is urged to contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers.
